Now that high school parent/teacher conferences have ended, middle school conferences wrap up next week, and elementary conferences begin, we want to encourage you to continue being a part of your child’s education. Your contributions to their learning are invaluable. For tips on how to be prepared for your child’s conferences, read Colorín Colorado’s suggestions here (click here to read them in Spanish).
If you have questions about your child’s report card or progress report, please contact his or her English Learners (EL) teacher. We would be happy to help explain the curriculum standards and your child’s academic progress.
For an excellent, quick read on how to accommodate for your English Learners, check out Cult of Pedgagogy’s article “12 Ways to Support English Learners in the Mainstream Classroom.” The best part? The suggested strategies will benefit all students, not just your ELs.
Don’t hesitate to reach out to your building’s EL teacher if you’d like assistance with translating report card comments for your EL families.
